No electricity, no phone, no outside world... now back in Krabi (mainland). Here are some notes fromt he last couple of days...

Friday...
Hello Keegan,Calia and Kira;family and friends,

What an interesting day we have had. We left Krabi (mainland) and took a taxi for a one hour drive to a pier. Our taxi driver was Mr. Deen. He was a great help to us and assisted us in getting on the "taxi".. The boat we took across was a large longboat. It was a boat taxi. I was expecting the ferry boat like we have in Canda, fully equipped with lifejackets and safety equiment.Instead we headed to the island withabout 15-20 locals and the fresh market produce and two motorbikes and a dining room cabinet.The only child on board turned and looked at Cliff and I and got scared.(don't see a lot of white skin) When we arrived at Koh Jum we were greeted at the dock by Ray and Sao Woodland the owners of Woodland lodge. Ray is British and Sao is Thai so it was a real blessing to be met by them. There are only a handful of vehicles on the island (Rays small truck being one of them). We jumped in the back with Sao and off we went. . Ray described the island as being about 50 years behind the mainland -so you can just imagine all the chickens and dogs running around the dirt road. When we arrived at the school it was lunch time so the children were playing in the school yard. The principal came running across the yard to us-very excited to see us. We got the chance to show him the stuff we brought from Canada. He was very thankful. He took us on a tour of the school and showed us everything they are doing. We got a chance to see class in session and meet several teachers. When we were finished touring Cliff had the chance to show the children how to play frisbee. THen it was back to the truck The truck took us down the dirt road, past rubber trees and palm trees. Finally we were at the Woodland Lodge. What a great place. They have a bunch of really nice bungalows (one room cottage type deal) . From our bunglaow we can see and hear the ocean. Tonight, before dinner Cliff and i went on a walk down the beach. It is very quiet, peaceful and not built up at all. For supper we had Thai food with fresh local produce and shrimp (very fresh) Good but hot. I might pay for it later. Hope you are all doing well and we will write again soon.

Saturday & Sunday

Ahhhhhh... A very uneventful couple of days. All we did was eat, read, relax and play in the ocean. Daddy had to feel some productivity so he helped roof one of the bungalows by handing up some of the thatch to be attached (about 20 minutes of HARD LABOUR - lol). We have an invisible pet here at our bungalow. There are many pet dogs running around but our pet has not been very friendly. The invisible gecko squaks at us from somewhere about the rafters and behind pictures. If we see him, we will b sure to get a picture for you.
