I am so blessed to have this special woman in my life. Today she is celebrating her 96th birthday. She has done so much in her long life like; survived 2 world wars, a depression, immigration to a new country, learned a new language, raised 7 children (one with special needs), seen her family through the ups and downs of life and been such an example of a woman of faith.
Last Christmas we all came to visit Oma at the Nursing Home. This was the last week we were in Canada and due to an influenza outbreak the Home closed its doors to visitors and we were not allowed in the building for a visit. In true deWit family fashion with Aunt Jean leading the way, we snuck around to the back of the building and had a quick visit with Oma through the window and we all got a chance to build a snow man for her window........here is a picture from that day. Can you see Oma in the window?
Oma, we are sorry that we could not make it to your party this year. However, it would be a very long commute for us to come all the way from Melbourne, Australia. We hope you have enjoyed the postcards we have sent you from Australia. We will be sending you one from Sydney when we head there in July.
Oma, we love you and think of you often. Today we want to wish you a very Happy Birthday. Celebrate today with your family and know that your life is full of God's richest blessings.
Love from
Karen and Cliff
Keegan, Calia and Kira

I think it is great that you all found a way to visit with your Oma, in spite of the visitation restrictions
Nicely written!
That's a beautifully written tribute to your Oma! I love that you visited through the window! She must have thought that was the best. Great family picture there too... :)
