Extreme Heat

We have experienced many days in the last two weeks where there have been days of extreme heat. On these days most Australians either head indoors and pull down all the outside window shades and crank up the air conditioning or head to the beach. Today found us heading to the beach. We drove down the peninsula about an hour and found ourselves in the cute little town of Sorrento. We did a little bit of exploring then found ourselves on the beach needing to cool off. We put on the sunscreen and the sunshirts and spent about three hours in the water. We knew it was a hot one today cause the wind that was blowing across the water felt like the draught that you get when you open your oven door to check on your baking. It was not a refreshing sea breeze by any means. You had to stay in the water to feel cool and once you were out of the water you were dry in a matter of minutes. After we got back to the car we heard on the radio that Melbourne's temperature today had peaked at 46.4 degrees celcius! It had broken a record set a number of years ago.

So, on the way home we stopped and got something that helped us cool down and beat the heat........
